My Mom: A Poem From My Seven Year Old to His Mom for Mother’s Day

It has been a few days since my last post and, though not many people are likely to read this it is very special.  This was part of a week of mother’s day preparation in sweet boy’s first grade class.

My Mom

My mom’s smile is as big as mine.

My mom’s eyes are as brown as a chocolate bar.

My mom looks like an angel.

My mom makes the best cookies.

I feel good when my mom is inside.

My mom loves to shop.

My mom will never let me go.

I Love My Mom.

He wrote it for school and then read it to  her today for mother’s day.  He actually began to tear up a little, I know it sounds like an embellishment on my part, but he has earned his moniker sweet boy, by being more sensitive than most seven year old kids I know.  On days like this I want to pray, beg, beseech, whoever might be listening to just stop time, to dam it up with whatever corporeal stuff he or she can find, leaving us in our own little timeless eddy to enjoy the daily wonders of family forever.  I miss every day that passes once it is gone.
